HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Step 1: Sign Up
Fill out our quick online form to join the program.​
Step 2: Meet Your Buddy
Once pairs are announced, make contact with your Buddy and coordinate a time to meet up!
Step 3: Build the Bond
Meet up twice per month for rink or off-ice activities, record your sessions, and have fun!
Step 4: Track Your Hours
Big Buddies can log activities and volunteer hours here:
HOW IT WORKS
WHO CAN BE A BIG BUDDY
High school age players (ages 14–18) who:

Are current members of Royals High School Hockey or Ice Hawks programs.
Demonstrate teamwork, sportsmanship, and leadership.
Can commit to meeting with their Little Buddy at least 2x per month.
Want to earn volunteer hours while giving back to the hockey community.

Big Buddies help by:
​
Encouraging and guiding younger players.
Meeting for Stick & Puck, watching games, or hanging out with your Little Buddy at IIP.
Providing mentorship about hockey, teamwork, and attitude.
Being a role model - on and off the ice.
WHO CAN BE A LITTLE BUDDY
Younger Ice in Paradise players (8U–12U) who:
Love hockey and want to learn from older players.
Are excited to connect with a “Big Buddy”.
Want to build confidence, skills, and friendships across age levels.
Little Buddy benefits:
Gain a positive role model who embodies teamwork and sportsmanship.
Big Buddy interactions can build confidence and social skills on and off the ice.
Your player will get tips and encouragement from older players to help improve their game.
Your player will feel like a valued part of our larger hockey community.
PROGRAM GUIDELINES
All buddy interactions must be age-appropriate and supervised by a parent, guardian, or coach.
Big Buddies are not permitted to drive Little Buddies under any circumstances.
Buddies are not allowed to meet one-on-one in private or unsupervised settings.
Big Buddies are expected to be positive role models and maintain a supportive, inclusive attitude.
Little Buddies are encouraged to participate actively, ask questions, and engage with their Big Buddies. However, all Little Buddy participation in activities is voluntary and must be coordinated with a parent or guardian.
Buddy pairings and participation are subject to change based on player availability, team structure, or coach discretion.
The Paradise Pals Program is designed to promote leadership, mentorship, and positive team culture. As such, participants are expected to uphold the values of teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship at all times, on and off the ice.
Ice in Paradise, the Ice Hawks Board, and program volunteers are not responsible for any unsupervised interactions or events that occur outside of officially organized team activities.
