At Ice in Paradise, we believe the rink is more than just a place to skate—it’s a place to connect, learn, and create lasting memories. This April, we were excited to host two special events that brought our community together on the ice: our SB Dad’s Group Meetup and our Skating Spree Try Skating for Free.
Welcoming New Faces with Skating Spree
Our Skating Spree event welcomed approximately 60 attendees, many of whom were stepping onto the ice for the very first time. Designed as an easy and accessible introduction to skating, the event offered free skating lessons led by our professional coaching staff.
After their lesson, participants had the chance to practice during a shared free skate session, building confidence while enjoying time on the ice with others. Coaches were available throughout the event to answer questions, offer tips, and introduce families to our skating and hockey programs.
For many, it was the start of a brand-new experience—and we loved seeing so many smiles, first steps, and moments of progress.
Dads & Kids Take the Ice
We also hosted our SB Dad’s Group Meetup, where around 30 attendees joined us for a fun and meaningful evening designed especially for dads and their kids.
In addition to skating together, participants had the opportunity to try hockey in a dedicated, cordoned-off area complete with sticks, balls, and nets. It was a great way for kids (and dads!) to explore something new in a relaxed, supportive environment.
Beyond the activities on the ice, the event created space for dads across the Santa Barbara area to connect, share experiences, and build community—something we’re proud to help foster.

More Than Just Skating
Both events were supported by our professional coaching staff, who played a key role in making each experience welcoming and engaging. Whether helping a first-time skater find their balance or answering questions about next steps, our coaches are at the heart of what makes these events special.
Looking Ahead
These events are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to making skating accessible, inclusive, and fun for everyone in our community. Whether you’re brand new to the ice or looking to get more involved, we’re here to help you get started.
We look forward to seeing even more of our community out on the ice at future events!
