Ice in Paradise proudly hosted its first-ever Winter in Paradise 8U Jamboree Tournament this MLK Weekend, and the inaugural event was nothing short of a success.
The full-day celebration of youth hockey brought together four young teams from across Southern California: the Goal Diggers from Santa Clarita, the Bears from Burbank, the Lady Ducks from El Segundo, and our very own Santa Barbara Ice Hawks. From the moment the puck dropped, the rink was filled with excitement, sportsmanship, and nonstop enthusiasm.
Over six hours of ice time, each team competed in three fast-paced 30-minute round-robin games, giving every player the chance to skate, compete, and grow their love for the game. The day wrapped up with a consolation game and a championship matchup, where the Santa Barbara Ice Hawks skated away with this year's tournament banner.
But the weekend was about more than wins and scores. Players made new friends, showed great teamwork, and capped off the day with an outdoor pizza party, celebrating a job well done both on and off the ice. In true jamboree spirit, every player left the rink a winner.
We’re incredibly grateful to the teams, families, coaches, and volunteers who made this event possible. The enthusiasm and energy on the ice confirmed what we hoped from the start: Winter in Paradise is here to stay. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for an even bigger and better event next year!
