How Did the Adult Hockey Tournament Become an Annual Event?

Over the last 10 years, Ice in Paradise has hosted numerous Presidents' Day Tournaments over Presidents' Day weekends. Originally, after Ice in Paradise opened its doors in 2015, we were excited to showcase our new facilities and so we started by inviting our friends from all over the country, even players from as far as Canada, to come play in an ice hockey tournament.

The big draw for our new tournament was that many players hadn't visited Santa Barbara, much less for ice hockey! The visiting teams were greeted by the brightness of our rink, our hospitality, and our exciting tournament, and many people returned to play in our tournament the following years. What started as wanting to share our beloved ice rink with our friends, became an annual event where participants could share the camaraderie of playing together in an adult hockey tourney.

Ice in Paradise hosts its annual Presidents' Day Tournament this year, starting from Friday, February 13, 2026, to Sunday, February 17, 2026.
